"Murthy most recently delivered a speech on Jan. 14 to Duke University’s ethics institute about the value of working in the public sector. Murthy disclosed that he was paid $30,000 for the hour-long remarks, which was part of Duke’s 'Virtues & Vocations' series."

Vivek Murthy, President Biden's nominee for Surgeon General, has made over $2 million in pandemic consulting for a variety of businesses, including AirBnB and Carnival Cruise lines. But it was a $30,000 talk at Duke University's Kenan Institute for Ethics that jumped out at me. Duke's "Virtues and Vocations" series is "a national forum for scholars and practitioners across disciplines to consider how best to cultivate character in pre-professional and professional education." You can see the highlights above. (For the full talk, you'll need $30,000.)

The story was reported in The Washington Post. (It's behind behind a paywall, but there's a summary on Slate.)
