In college athletics, "outspoken" means "out of work"

Hey, a college football coach has to know what the forbidden topics are. Don't talk about sexual assault. Don't talk about concussions.  And above all, don't talk about players' rights and the righteous activism of the University of Missouri football team -- especially if your wife has written a book called Touchdowns for Jesus and Other Signs of Apocalypse: Lifting the Veil on Big-Time Sports.

In The New York Times, Joe Nocera writes about the firing of offensive coordinator John Shoop at Purdue.
