The highest-paid public employee in Minnesota is...

... the Gopher football coach, Jerry Kill. No surprise there, of course. A college football coach is also the highest paid public employee in Michigan, Alabama, Iowa, South Carolina and just about every other state except for those where the highest paid public employee is a college basketball coach (such as North Carolina, Kentucky and Wisconsin).

But who's the highest-paid public employee in Minnesota outside of the athletics department?  Not Eric Kaler. Not the governor either.  According to MSN, it is Brooks Jackson, the Dean of the Medical School, who makes $717,000 a year.
