By October 2009, Ray Sandford of Columbia Heights had been forced to undergo over forty rounds of outpatient electroconvulsive therapy. Each round was court-ordered and performed involuntarily, against Sandford's will. The ECT would probably still be continuing today if not for collective action undertaken by the activist group, Mind Freedom. You can read about that campaign here.
Tomorrow, March 23rd, the local chapter of Mind Freedom will meet from 1 to 3 pm to plan "action on the Dan Markingson case and the corrupt practices at the University of Minnesota Hospitals psychiatric department, including non-consensual experimentation on patients."
The meeting will be in the Community Room at the Uptown Minneapolis Lunds grocery store, 1450 West Lake Street (Metro Transit routes 6, 12, 17, 21, and 23, Uptown Transit Center).
Any interested people are welcome to attend.
