University of Minnesota Faculty Senate to consider probe into research suicide

At 2 pm on Thursday, December 5, the University of Minnesota Faculty Senate will consider a resolution asking for an external, independent inquiry into research practices at the university.  Among the practices in question are those surrounding the grisly suicide of Dan Markingson in a 2004 psychiatric drug study. The resolution comes in response to a letter signed by 177 scholars at leading academic institutions asking for an independent inquiry.

The meeting is open to the public. It will take place in Room 25 of Mondale Hall on the west bank of campus.

The docket can be found at this link.

The background to the suicide of Dan Markingson can be seen in this KMSP news segment. Please share this post as widely as possible.
