A multiple choice question about the Markingson case

Next Friday, I'll be talking about the Markingson case for Grand Rounds in the Department of Psychiatry at East Tennessee State University.  The CME office asked me for a multiple choice question for attendees in order to make sure they have understood the content of my lecture.  Here is what I gave them.

The mutilated body of a research subject in an antipsychotic clinical trial is found in the bathroom of a halfway house.  His head has been nearly decapitated and a box cutter is frozen in his hand.  What do you do?

AFile a Serious Adverse Event Report stating that the death is unrelated to the study drug.

B. Make sure that study records are kept away from the subject’s family.

C.  File a legal action against the subject’s mother.

D. All of the above
