"A breach of trust that casts a pall on the university and the psychiatric community"

Dr. Laurence Kirmayer, editor of Transcultural Psychiatry and Director of Social and Transcultural Psychiatry at McGill University, has signed the petition to investigate the University of Minnesota.  He writes:

"The lack of transparency and willingness to look into how research and clinical trials are conducted is, in itself, a breach of trust that casts a pall on the university and the psychiatric community. As a psychiatrist, I am deeply concerned about the widespread complicity between the profession and the pharmaceutical industry."

  1. Of interest, I was asked today why the University has never commented on the Kenney corrective action issued by the Minnesota Board of Social Work...the simple answer I could offer was...because they'd have to admit there were problems and violations that they've known about and ignored them. The old "if we pretend they don't exist...therefore they don't" ....sorta like...by saying nothing, you actually are saying quite a lot.
