"This is lawyer-talk that creates a false impression while skirting outright lying"

Stanford Law School's Matt Lamkin, a former corporate lawyer turned academic, has finally written the piece that I have been waiting for: one that takes on the disturbing, deeply compromised role that Mark Rotenberg, the General Counsel for the university, has played in the Dan Markingson scandal. I can't recommend it highly enough.  It is brutal, and it is entirely correct.  Read it, and then pass it along to your friends and colleagues.  You can find it here.
